Sweet Josie's Arrival: A Cozy In-Home Newborn Session in Kirkland Lake
It was a pleasure to spend a relaxed afternoon with Megan and Cody in their Kirkland Lake home as they introduced me to their sweet baby girl, Josie. These in-home newborn sessions are always a privilege, capturing those quiet, early days as a family. What stood out during Josie's session were the personal touches that clearly meant so much to Megan and Cody - a beautiful baby blanket Megan had made for Josie; handmade elements in the nursery; and the anticipation of the crib Cody is building. These are the authentic details that make each family's story unique, and I appreciate being able to capture a glimpse of that.
One of the photos that stood out from this session was a simple shot of their calendar with Josie's due date marked – a subtle reminder of their journey into parenthood. It's often these small, real-life details that hold significant meaning. Sessions like Josie's are a great reminder of why I focus on lifestyle newborn photography: capturing real connections, early fleeting moments, and the individual story of each family in a natural way.
Planning Ahead: Booking Your Newborn Session
Those first few weeks with a new baby go by in a blur. If you're expecting, now is a perfect time to consider capturing these early moments. Booking your newborn session early, ideally in your second trimester, helps ensure a spot in my schedule around your due date. This allows us to be ready to photograph your little one within those initial weeks, when they're often sleepiest and easiest to settle.
Bumps + Babes Package
For those interested in documenting the complete journey into parenthood, I offer a Bumps + Babes package. This combines a maternity session, capturing the anticipation of pregnancy, with a relaxed newborn session after your baby arrives, offered at a combined rate. Just as Megan and Cody will have these images of Josie's arrival, the Bumps + Babes package provides a way to preserve more of your story.
